Thank you so much for answering my post. I would appreciate any information that you have on him while he was in Canada. Edward is my great great grandfather.
Edward is the father of my great grandmother, Florence Dora Tway (1898-1980). His other children with Florence's mother, Mary Lena Arpan (1869-1953), are:
John Burton Tway (1896-1954)
Eliza May Tway (1897-1996)
Lawrence Tway (1900-?)
Ida Millie Tway (1902-1977)
I have found that he was born in Middletown, KY 29 Nov 1869. He was on the 1880 census in San Saba County, TX. He was an early merchant in Johnson County, WY in the mid 1890s. He married Mary Lena on 25 Jun 1895 in Johnson County, WY. He was on the 1900 census in Crazy Woman Creek, Johnson County, WY. I have found a passport application dated 21 Dec 1903 stating he was living in Louisville, KY stating that he was a stock growing wanting to go to Canada for less than one year. He then traveled from British Columbia to San Francisco, CA on a passenger boat on 11 Sep 1908 and listed rancher for occupation. I lose him until Oct of 1917 when he crosses back to the U.S. from Canada stating his U.S. destination as Anchorage, KY and that he was a widower. The 1920 census shows him in Jefferson County, KY; and the 1930 census shows him in Louisville, KY. He passed away on 9 May 1951.
Those are the facts that I have, but I would love to learn anything you have about his time in Canada. Also, because my family stories say that he abandoned Mary Lena and the children in Wyoming, I would love to know what kind of man he was as a whole. Did he marry in Canada? Did he have other children? Was he a good man as a whole?
