Twarowskis around Newark, NJ

Classification: Query
Surnames: Twarowski
My maternal grandmother, Eleanore Barbara Twarowski (1918-1999), and her clan lived in and around Newark, NJ. The start of that clan was her father, Joseph Twarowski (1887-1957), who emigrated from Poland in 1910. I do not know who his parents are, and he hasn't appeared in any "Member Connect" trees.

So, I'm looking for ancestry there.

Does anyone have recommendations on how to follow the tree back to Poland (or Galicia/Austria/Russia or whatever it might have been at any given time)?

Hello Taed
I read your message and it won't be easy, the way I see it Poland don't have good resource to use, between Galicia\Austria\Prussia and Russia it's very hard find any records.
First I will recommend for you to find a name of the boat Joseph came to USA - from Passenger Arrival Lists (Ellis Island) or different port.
Back then they were changing their first name from Józef to Joe or Joseph or something alse and I also see so many mistakes with the last name. You need to play with the data, Also they were giving a place where they were born, if you will get that you are almost done. If Joseph was Catholic you can find church where he was baptized or if you lucky you can get records from State Archives in Poland. The most important to get where he came from, name of city or village. If you need more help just let me know I will be happy to help.

Sincerely
Eva
