Twardy family ties...

Surnames: Pacek, Twardy, Wegrzyn, Burczyk
After a couple of years, I recently uncovered solid documentation in the Przemysl Catholic diocese archives on my grandparents Andrzej Pacek and Konstancja Burczyk. Part of that documentation shows ties to the Dlugie Twardys; Marianna Wegrzyn (my great grand aunt) was married to Jan Twardy of Dlugie

I'd welcome contact with anyone researching families from the Dlugie/Nowosielce area.

Hi,

I just started researching my husband's family and we have both a Twardy and Wegrzynowski in our family. They are from Galicia.

My husband's grandmother was Blanche Francis Twardy (born Albina Franciszka Twardy on 16 Nov 1888 in Galicia). She verbally told a family member that she was born in Sassyn. We don't have the real name of the town and I have found over 25 places that are spelled in a way that might be pronounced that way. She immigrated to the US in about 1895 and lived in Stamford, CT.

Her father was Joseph (Józef) Twardy born in Galicia on 23 March 1863.
- We believe that his father may have been Martos Twardy.
- We also believe that his brother may have been Felix.
- We have a record that a Felix Twardy married a Mary Rycz/Rysz and their son was Pawel
- This Pawel Twardy was born 6 Jan 1882 in Poland and might possibly be Blanche's 1st cousin. He came to the US in 1900 with several Bielens and one Rycs/Rysz. Pawel Twardy married another cousin by the name of Katie Twardy.

Her mother was Francis (Franciszka) Wegrzynowski and possibly born about 1870. We believe that her parents were:
Matthew (Mateusz or Maciej) Wegrzynowski (or maybe Wegrzyn)
Catherine (Katerzyna) Pitchologa

Blanche's sisters were born in the US and married men whose families came from Dlugie and Sanok. Their last names were Guzek and Mrus. Because the sisters and their husbands were all born in the US, we didn't pay attention to where they came from, however, there is a town near both Dlugie and Sanok that is called Sarzyn. This is similar to the town called "Sassyn" that we have been looking for.

We also have people who married into the family that also came from that same area. Their names were Rysz and Bielen.

There were other Twardiy's who settled in Stamford, CT (including a Jan Twardy). The family story is that all Twardy's in CT are related but we have not been able to connect them because we don't have any records from Poland yet. I would love to have information about your family and copies of any documents you may have. Maybe your information will finally be the link we need!

I have just started a Twardy group on Facebook. Please join! so far we mostly have our own branch of Twardy's there but want all Twardy relatives worldwide to join.

Also, I am starting a Twardy surname project on Family Tree DNA. I am trying to get people who have a Twardy anywhere in their family tree to take a DNA test so we can find out the exact relationship. The test is called a "Family Finder" test and costs $99 at www.FamilyTreeDNA.com only one person from each branch actually has to take the test, but besides connecting us all together, it is very interesting. Family Tree DNA's test is much more comprehensive than Ancestry's test and you can also get medical info from a related company for only $10. Anyway, I highly encourage you to do the DNA test!!

Contact me anytime at celottofam5@hotmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

I would love to have a copy of all of the information you have
