We recently found out that my grandfather Nicholas Chester Hartman changed his name to hartman from Twardowski in the early 1900. He landed around the milauwkee area worked in the chicago area where I was born in 1948. My parents moved to Wyoming in 1949 and I grew up in Wyo. I would like any info you have and if we are related.

My mother's father Frank Twardowski came from
Poland. I think Warsaw. I do not know the names of his parents. He setteled in Detroit
MI. There he married a Josephine Starbowski who came from Poland when she was three years old. Let me know if you can tie any of this into your Twardowski family. Thanks

My father's name was Jan Twardowski, he came from an area called Kulboshwa in Poland. I remember him saying he lived in a small village that was called Wilcha Woda or something like that. He came to America about 1908 and lived in NJ for a while than he came to Pa. He had brothers and sisters left in Poland, but I don't know if they survived the war. If any of this information helps you, let me know and we may share more information. Eddie.

I hope the following helps those of you trying to track your family history. My grandfather, Alexander Twardowski, arrived in Baltimore sometime in the early 1900s. He ended up in Philadelphia but I guess most of the family stayed in Baltimore because there were cousins there and he had no family that I know of in Philadelphia.
He married Catherine Swyder and they had five children, Marie (Larkin), Helen (Konopka), Florence (Kesselring), Whitney T. (who died shortly after WWII), and my father Joseph.
The family came from a place called Galina or something like that. I will talk with my mother who might have more details and give you an update.

My husband's grandmother was Stefania Twardowski born near Debica, Poland. She came to America around 1935 with her husband John Wesley Loboda. She had cousins in Detroit but never got out there to visit. I wonder if your family is related. Please let me know if you have any more information.
