Twamley, Twombly, Twombley ????????
I am searching for info on my ggrandmother. Her maiden name was Ruby Twamley (etc.). Her father was supposed to have entered the US via Canada, from Ireland. I have been told that he was a drummer in the Civil War. She was supposed to have been born in NY. I don't know how, but she ended up in Kansas City, MO. She at one time married a man named Lafferty, had a boy Bonney Twamley Lafferty, and was divorced. She later married a man whose last name was Dusky (in KC) and he was supposed to have adopted the boy, who was my grandfather, and his name was changed to Jack R. Dusky Years later, I was told that they had found out that he was never legally adopted. How they found that out I don't know. Evidently she divorced Mr. Dusky and later married Charlie Sullivan and they lived in Mena, AR until they both died. She died in the early 60's and was in her nineties when she died, so she would have been born in the mid to late 1800's. I don't know what her parents' names were or if she had any siblings. I feel they must have been fairly well off because she had quite a bit of antique wedding china and other china, some of which I have. Any help solving this mystery would be welcomed.

Have Twamley's entering Canada in 1870's. Also have variants on spelling in family tree.

Re: Twamley, Twombly, Twombley ????????
Thanks, but I think my Twamleys would have already been in the US by then because my ggrandmother was born in OK at about that time. I have since verified her name was actually Margarett Ruby (or Ruby Margarett) Twamley (correct spelling) and her parents' names were John and Nancy Twamley. They did come into NY through Canada, though. Does any of this fit your info? Do you have Twamleys or are you just being helpful?

Re: Twamley, Twombly, Twombley ????????
My maiden name was Twamley and my line comes from Wicklow. 1864 my great grandfather was born, his father was a widower and I have traced brothers to Canada which may be related. The other Twamley's in Canada are from Peter Twamley which I believe are the Shillelagh Twamley's. My line has Christopher, Michael, James and John as they main boys names. I have been told they went to Canada. Hope this is of some help. The spelling changes depending who wrote the birth/marriage/death certificate. I am off again to Wicklow very soon to continue research. I definitely have Twombley/Twombly and Twamley in my family tree.
Best of luck

Mary, I am seeking information regarding Richard Twamley, who emigrated fm Ireland to Ontario in 1864, during the civil war. His son's name was George Twamley or Twambly.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Twamley, Twombly, Twombley ????????
I believe they were from Shillelagh barony in Wicklow, or from Dublin North. As this name occurs in these areas. I cannot find the split as my Twamley's are from Rathdrum/Ashford in Wicklow. Try my email deadonseven@hotmail.com as other info cannot be shared over the net due to copyright. Good luck
