According to Canadian census records, Richard Twambly, Sr., farmer, born abt 1755 in Ecosse (Scotland) and his family; Peter Twamley, also a farmer (listed in the 1842 Lower Canada Census in St-Athanase), and Richard's son George Twamley, a farmer (cultivator) who was born 1801, emigrated from Ecosse (Scotland) to Ireland, and later to Rouville, Quebec. Richard, Sr. is first found in the 1825 Census for Lower Canada, in St. Constant, St. Philippe, Quebec, 20 mi. NW of Lacadie, Quebec, as Richard Twambly, cultivator, 70 yrs. (born abt 1755).

Also listed in later censuses for East Canada are Peter Twamley (1842 St-Athanase, Iberville, Rouville, Quebec, Canadian Census) lists two people in his household; George Twamley, born 1801, Episcopalian, from Ecosse/Scotland (listed in the 1871 St-Athanase, Iberville, Rouville, Quebec/East Canada Census), his wife, Marguerite (Shortly) also from Ecosse/Scotland, and their children, Mary Twamley 1854-1873, Catherine M Twamley 1856-1913, Richard Twamley Jr 1858-1924 and Benjamin Twamley1861-1936.

Another family member found in the 1842 St-Athanase, Iberville, Quebec, Canada Census), is Joseph Twamley (Twamason), farmer, with four people in his household. (Ecosse is the French word for Scotland.)

Hope this helps.
