Hi
I have some info about Annie as she was the younger sister of my grandmother Mary Jane Twaddle (dob 31 May 1881. Married to Samuel Elder Troland (13/8/13). Mary died 26 Jan 1953 in Ballymoney.

Annie was born about 1885: parents were William (1845) and Elizabeth Jane (1853). Other known child is Robert (born 1897). However there were three other children still alive in 1911. William's father was Alexander (died 26 July 1897). And William had a younger brother Alexander (1857) married to Mary (1863).

What else do you know about Annie?

BTW the place is Gortnacapple outside Bushmills.

Hi Ken

This is the family of my step-son (his mother's side, sadly she died shortly after his birth). From somewhere I have Annie's birth as 13 May 1894, she died 15th Apr 1971 in Aylesbury, Bucks. Accidental death due to fractured femur. I have found a Robert LAVERTY emigrating to Quebec on the 'Canada' on 17 Aug 1923, however Annie appears not to have gone with him until many years later. Husband seems to think she was in Bushmills in early 50s (or perhaps she returned early). Robert must have spent quite a lot of time in Canada because he was drawing a pension from there.

Their daughter Kathleen married a soldier John Alfred HAYNES (originally from Aylesbury) in N Ireland and their two eldest daughters were born there, Kathleen Hazel in 1942 & Phyllis Mary in 1943

Thank you for helping fill in some of the missing bits.

Jenny

Hi Jenny

You are quite right about the dob for Annie: she was 13 years younger than her sister Mary Jane. I have also found one of their brothers on LDS: Alexander dob 8 July 1873 and a maiden name for their mother Christy. Do you know about any links with a Samuel Twaddle (and possibly his daughter or sister Elizabeth) who lived in Benvarden? You see my grandfather and Mary Jane were married in Benvarden Presbyterian Church on 11/8/11. I have never understood why they chose that church. Could there be a clue here to the names of some more of Annie and Mary Jane's brothers and sisters?

I visited the Twaddles in Bushmills in the early 60's and I remember the name Laverty being mentioned. I will do another posting soon with some more info about Mary Jane and my grandfather Samuel Elder Troland.

Surnames: Troland, Twaddle
Samuel Elder Troland and Mary Jane (Twaddle) had five children, but only two survived to adulthood. Two girls (Sarah Elizabeth and Elizabeth) died when less that a year old and Jack died just after his third birthday of complications arising from a burst appendix. My grandmother spent many hours sitting at her bedroom window which overlooked the old churchyard in Ballymoney where her children were buried. My father William James was born at Walkmills, Bushmills. He was named after his grandfathers William Twaddle and James Troland. His sister was Annie Maud; Annie was her grandmother on her father's side, not sure where the name Maud came from. Mary died 26 Jan 1953 in Ballymoney. If you want to contact me directly, my email address is on a posting I made on this site on 4 July.
