Am trying to find info on one or more Jacob Twaddells - middle initial may be W. or H. Born in either Delaware or Chester Counties Pennsylvania, or in New Castle County Delaware, in mid-to-late 1800s. I think there may be at least 3.

My father had a brother named Jacob that was born in New Castle County in the second half on the 19th century.
Both he and my father were born in Beaver Valley.
Some where in our files I have a history of my Twaddell family if you would need more info.
Jacob was one of about 12 children that lived.
Take care
Bill Twaddell

I have the following in my Twaddell files for the geographic areas you mentioned:

Jacob W. Twaddell (6/28/1846 - 1/29/1931) m. Melvina Leech (d. 1905) 8/7/1876. This Jacob was the son of William Wilson Twaddell and Catherine Horter. William was b. 1809 and d. 1889. Catherine was b. 1818 and d. 1904. They were m. 1837 in the 11th Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, PA. William was the son of William Twaddell and Mary Wilson, my husband's 4th great-grandfather.

Jacob Horter Twaddell (b 10/17/1841) m. Nanny Freeman, son of William Twaddell and Harriet Horter. William was b. 1805 and d. 1890. Harriet was b. 1817. William was the son of John Pawling Twaddell and Jane C. Bonsall. John Pawling Twaddell was brother to the above William Twaddell directly related to my husband.

If there's anything else I can do to help, please let me know. If anyone has a nice file of Twaddell's that might be able to fill in some blanks for me, particularly on spouses, please let me know.

THANKS and GOOD LUCK!

My mother, Becky Jo Twaddell Clark, and her sister, Margaret Ann Twaddell Teeter, are the great-granddaughters of Jacob Carl Twaddell. Jacob and his brother, Alfred E. Twaddell, left New York appx. 1851 by sail and traveled to Galveston, then on to Waco, Texas, via ox train. We think Jacob was about 16 years old at that time. He & Alfred were two of the first 20-odd white settlers in the Indian village of Waco (then known as "Huaco"). Jacob was a Texas Ranger and also fought for the Confederacy. He was also part of the first cattle drive made from Central Texas to Sedalia, Missouri, under the leadership of Lawrence Sullivan "Sul" Ross. Jacob married Mary Leona Hill and they are both buried in Hubbard, Hill County, Texas. Mary Hill is descended from the Sneed family -- the Sneeds were Methodist circuit-riding ministers out of Tennessee and started the first church in Waco. Alfred Twaddell was one of the first sheriffs of Waco, McLennan County, Texas, and operated a walnut furniture factory on Waco Creek. Alfred's daughter, Cemira Twaddell, married John Mann, and they operated a brick factory out of Waco. The Mann home ("East Terrace") remains a historic landmark in Waco even now. I would be very interested in any other information you have on the Twaddell family. Thank you.

Interesting! I never got notification of this post! Good thing I happened in to look at a different message. Thanks so much for the information; it's very helpful! If you're interested, I did actually find the burial locations for Jacob W. and Melvina. I'm very curious as to the spelling of Melvina's maiden name - the property right next to mine is identfied by the name "Leach" - think they could be one and the same?
Thank you,
Pam
