I have found a John Tuxon in the 1860 Nebraska census, any connections out there?
Thanks, Linda Tuxson

This John Tuxson is actually John Tuxhorn.
He was in the civil war and I have his records as I am his great grandchild. Yhe army officials wrote his name down as John Tuxson, John Truxson and other variations.

John Tuxson now John Tuxhorn

Thank you Charles for your speedy reply and that clears up something that was a mystery to me. I was always told my g grandfather Martin (Mark) Tuxson was a first generation american so when the name John Tuxson showed up in NB I was confused.
Interesting though that he, Mark, is listed in the 1890 NYC directory with a Charles Tuxson, a first name my family has never heard of. I also might add that it was always family oral tradition that Tuxson was a misspelling, my 79 year old Aunt says she thought the real name was closer to Tuchjon. Oh well, the search continues. I will be up in NYC in Dec and hope to have time to check the census for these names. Thanks again you have been a real help! Linda Tuxson
