Does any one have info on Doritha Tute born around 1751. She married Jacob Hall. They lived in Newbury Vt. In 1764 when their son Moses Hall was born. Tute seems to be an unusual name in this area , does any one know its origin?

Surnames: Tute, Thute
Tute and Thute are from Ancient Egyptian. Transliterated from hieroglyphics it it Dhwty, pronouced tootie, with the most common spelling Tute and Thute. In Greek is Thoth, an Egyptian god. It is found in Germany. My ancestors came from Gladeback, Germany and there are atill Tute's living in the region. The name Thute can also be found in England and Ireland as well as the Indian Sub-Continent in South Asia. There is a German website genealogy.net where I found my ancestors. I have no specific information about your Doritha Tute that you are researching.
