I am researching the family of Wojciech Tutas (a.k.a. Albert Tutas), 19th century resident of Russian Poland. I am seeking information concerning the Wojciech Tutas family which resided in the vicinity of one or more of the following communities located in present-day Poland (formerly Russian Poland) north of Warsaw: (1) Rzaniec; (2) Krasnosielc; and (3) Ostroleka area. Several Tutas family members immigrated in late 19th century and early 20th century to America. Wojciech Tutas (called Albert or Adalbert Tutas in English) was said to have had two spouses named Franciszka (called Frances in English) - 1 Franciszka Durr and 2 Franciszka Grooce. I haven’t found any Polish records. However, based on records from USA, I have identified 5 known or presumed children of Wojciech Tutas as discussed below:
(1) Franciszka Tutas (a.k.a. Frances) married Jan Davis/David (a.k.a. John) (actual Polish surname unidentified). Some children immigrated and lived in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio and/or Chicago, Illinois area: 1 Adam, 2 Stanley, 3 possibly Hilda (?), 4 Anna and 5 Mary.
(2) Stanislaw Tutas: Married Roza Cacak/Cakac (a.k.a. Rose). Stanislaw may have had other children but his 2 known sons were: 1 Frank X. Tutas and 2 Stanley J. Tutas, both of whom immigrated to America. Frank X. Tutas (born 1885; died 1946) married Mary Schilaski and lived in Hamilton, Ohio. Frank X. and Mary Tutas had several children, and also had grandchildren by their son Stanley A. Tutas. Frank’s brother, Stanley J. Tutas (born 1889; died 1937), lived in Hamilton, Ohio; was in the army stateside during WW1; and moved to Ozaukee Co., Wisconsin. Stanley J. Tutas apparently married twice, and his only known child by his first wife died in infancy.
(3) Joseph Tutas (a.k.a. Józef Tutas) (born 1867; died 1945) married Mary Ann Graczyk; and immigrated and lived in Chicago area and also Hamilton, Ohio. Had children: 1 Joseph (died young), 2 Eugene (“Gene”) (lived in Hamilton, Ohio), and 3 Elizabeth (“Betty”) (Jensen) Thor (moved to Chicago area).
(4) Frank Tutas (born 1870-1872; died 1922) immigrated & married first Catherine Schilaski (sister of Mary) in Hamilton, Ohio, and had 10 children as follows: 1 Albert (WW1 veteran), 2 Elizabeth Brozowski, 3 Stephen (died young), 4 Michael, 5 John, 6 Joseph (died young), 7 Anthony, 8 Bernard (died young), 9 Paul, and 10 Josephine St.-Peter. Frank had 2 additional marriages recorded in Ohio – married second 1917 to Pelonia Hubicka, and married third 1919 to Mary (Howinsky) Zinkiewicz. Frank moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin with some of the children after Catherine died in Hamilton, Ohio. Frank also had several step-children by his 3rd marriage.
(5) John Tutas (born 1880; died 1947) - his mother was probably Wojciech’s second wife. John immigrated and married Anna Zielinski and lived in Hamilton, Ohio. John and Anna had several children: 1 Joseph, 2 Mary Ann Craft, 3 Antoinette Blackburn, 4 Bernard (WW2 veteran), and 5 Veronica Kurtz.
