Formerly of Cheswick
Peter Byron Tutak, 71, of Albion, Pa., formerly of Cheswick, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010. He was born Dec. 21, 1938, in New Kensington, to the late Pete and Anna Mae (Sturga) Tutak.
He graduated from Springdale High School in 1956, then joined the Navy where he served aboard the USS McNair. Pete was best known for his role as pioneer in the geothermal heating and air conditioning business. For more than 40 years, he served the tri-state region as owner of Air Tak, American Energy Products and Delta T Geothermal. Prior to his years with geothermal HVAC, Pete worked as an engineer for Kellogg American in Oakmont and Van Air in Erie. One of Pete's passions in life belonged with the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time around the campfire at Hogback Hill
with family and friends.
He also enjoyed shooting at the Albion Sportsman's Club, where he was a member. He was also a member of the NRA and the Tea Party. He is survived by his wife, Aletha (Beck) Tutak; his son, Peter "Repete" Tutak; his daughter, Desiree (Marc) Rigby, of Franklin Park; his sisters, Colette (Raymond) Sharkins, of Cheswick, and Barbara (Jim) Lizzi, of Lower Burrell;
and his best friend, Dorian Monroe, of Albion.
Pete will be remembered for his creative ability to repair anything and his instinctive mentoring of those close to him. His love for researching and sharing historical facts has led us all to know the true meaning of "ship high in transit". Pete was a wonderful husband, father and friend and we will continue to celebrate the gift that was given to all of us with him in our lives. As Pete requested, the family held a party prior to his passing to celebrate his life. Arrangements are by the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township.
