I'm searching for info on my great grandfather (Jack Tusa). He was married to Nancy LaBella and had a son, Frank Tousa. The parents were immigrants from Cefalu Sicily, and Frank was born in Margan City Louisiana. Any help would be great!!

You have just found a relative!! My great-great grandmother was Nancy LaBella! She was married to Jack Tusa and they produced 6 children. Frank was their 2nd born! They came from Sicily and three of the 6 children were born in Louisiana. They moved to Dennison, Texas, where the other three were born! Please contact me as soon you can! I can't wait to hear from you!

My family spells it Tousa, but from what my Dad has told me originally it was spelled Tusa. I have been told that when the family came to America a teacher of one of the kids, I thought it was my grandfather, Frank, but not for sure, spelled it Tousa, and that's when it changed. So, I don't know how accurate that story is, but that's why when I posted the name I spelled it Tusa. I'm glad to hear that there are more out there researching the family history. So, far it seems to end in Italy, but hopely someday we can get more of that info. Talk to ya soon, Cheryl

My great grandfather was Jack Tusa he was born in Cefalu, Sicily in 1895. He was married to Nancy LaBella, who was born in Cefalu, as well. I wonder if your great grandmother is related to my great grandfather somehow because my great grandparents started out in Louisiana. I wonder if they arrived around the same time to that area.

Sounds quite possible, as Josephine was born in 1860. I am assuming her name is Guiseppa and that she was born in Contessa Entilina (about 45 miles from Palermo). Sorry, I have no other information. Have been trying to get a password for three months to get into a site about Contessa Entilina, Sicily. They also have books for sale on the families of Contessa which include the Tusa's & Loiacono. If
I am ever successful, I will be happy to share this information with you.

Happy Hunting!

Where did you see books for sale on Tusa's? It's weird because most of the information I am digging up says the name is actually spelled Tousa. Some of the family spell it Tusa and some spell it Tousa. Where would I go to find these books?
