mtdna testing has been done for descendant of Lively Murphy of Sevier County, Arkansas at FTDNA. Lively's parents were Gideon and Delilah slaves of John Murphy of Sevier and Hempstead County, Arkansas. This last couple was to be given their freedom after John's only son died or had been educated. The estate was forbidden to sell the slaves. The slaves were to be allowed to continue to live on the farm and support themselves. The last record I have is of the slaves still living on the farm as part of the estate of John Murphy on 1850 slave schedule.
