I wonder if you show any connection between the Turners and the Paynes in your research. Joe Berry Turner signed the marriage license of at least two of my Payne relatives in Etowah County, Al. He signed for my great grandfather William Franklin Payne and Georgia Ann Huff, also for James Miller and Lucy Payne, and P. H. (Phillip) and Elizabeth Clay. Also on the 1880 census for Etowah County, Al. I found Delila Payne, Philip Payne, and Jeff Payne listed with Turner, Patsy (who might be a Payne), Turner Philip W., Angeline, William, Philip, and Susan A. Next door is Turner, Sylla (Priscilla Bradley Turner), Shockley, John (grandson of Phillip M. and Priscilla Turner), and Miller, Ann. Is Philip M. and Priscilla the parents of J. B. Turner. There must be a connection somehow but I have not been able to figure it out. Any ideas? Thanks.
