Hi There, I know you wrote this a while ago... but I have ancestors with the surname Turner from Deptford too. It is a long and twisted story.. which I wont bore you with. but basically My grandmother Ivy Agnes Turner was born in 1908 in Deptford and her father William was also born there. He moved to Australia in around 1910... leaving behind his son Alexander (born 1910) but I think Ivy travelled with him at the time.
If you have any info regarding this era I would greatly appreciate it!
