My husband Brent Turmel (his father was Ivan Alphonse Turmel) is related to Joseph Bourgeois (son of Cyrille Bourgeois and Leodina Proulx) of St. Alberta.

Does that ring a bell at all. I can check out for info if you like?

Early in french Quebec pioneer days, people couldn't write or sign their names. They relied on the priest (who were more educated at the time) to spell the family name correctly, during the baptism of their child. Turmel was not a common name so it was often spelled turmel, turmelle,tremenne tremaine.

I live in Canada and I'm french canadian. I'm developing quite an extensive family tree on the Turmel Family I have the line of your ancestors right up to the first settler Jean. If you want to contact me, I'll share info with you. In exchange, I wouldn't mind having your father & mom's marriage, date of birth, death and residence and when your family immigrated to the US. I'm not from the same family tree as you, but as I said I'm gathering as much info as I can about the Turmel families in North América.

I look for a person who could examine to the municipal Archives of St-Malo to find Jean Turmel's birth certificate son of Jean and Louise Vincent.
He would have been born by 1733 to Pleurtuit in Basse-Bretagne in France.
In exchange I can help him for researches in Quebec.

Je recherche une personne qui pourrait faire des recherches aux Archives municipales de St-Malo pour trouver l'acte de naissance de Jean Turmel fils de Jean et de Louise Vincent.
