Debi,
I was unable to find an email addy for you on this forum. My g-gm was Almeda Turpin of TN she had a sister named Martha. The birth date I show is a couple of years different than the one you show of your Martha, but records of those day were not known for their total accuracy. The stories details you all mentioned in this thread are just too similar to NOT try contact you for comparison. Almeda Martha's parents were G. W. Nancy Turpin and my older cousins tell me of the Indian background. I have been told by other researchers that they also had a younger sister named Eliza. I have yet to confirm this from a primary source although I do have a picture w/ the name Eliza Turpin on the back that was in my family's old bible.
