I am slowly it seems trying to trace my family lines and I have hit many a road block I am looking for anybody who may be able to help. My GF is John Tuohey son of my GGF Peter J. Tuohey who was born Sep 1 1894 in Pennsylvannia. My GGF Peter was married to my GGM Genevieve Dever also born in PA. My GGF Peter had a sister named Mary Tuohey who married a Eugene Connell, and another sister named Frances Tuohey who in 1910 was 11 yrs of age, in 1913 there father my GGGF Peter Tuohey died and I have no records past 1913 of Frances. My GGGF Peter Tuohey was born about 1863 in Ireland and he married my GGGM Frances Hobson. My GGGF Peter Tuohey immigrated to the us in 1882 and according to 1910 census he lived in Philly, and had a saloon business. his parents were my GGGGF Peter Tuohey b: ireland and my GGGGM Bridget Kelly also b: ireland. If anyone has any other info I would highly appreciate it if you could contact me. Thanks

Codi,

Im not sure if we have a Toohey (or any of the other 28 varieties of the spelling) but I had Tooheys living in Philadelphia from about 1866 through about 1910. My GGGF Dennis Toohey b. abt 1840, IRE with spouse Ann (working on surname) immigrated to Philadelphia about 1866 with children: Mary, Margaret, John - then had children in PA - Bridget, Annie (my GGM) and William. Dennis was a stevedore and lived near the docks on the deleware river. On 1870 census he's listed as "Tuey" and in 1880 as "Tooley". Cannot find him on 1900. In 1910 he is listed as a patient in the Phil. Gen. Hosp. though the listing on ancestorydotcom says "Tookey". It says he is 73 from Ireland (not Italy) and immigtd. in 1866. Now, I have found out all about my GGM Annie but absolutely NOTHING about any of the others - my philadelphia tooheys really dropped through the cracks of history. I just thought since we both have tooheys living in Philly that we should share info. Let me know what you think. I hope you get this, it was rather an old posting. thanks!

Hi, I just found your post which you wrote in 2005! I'm helping my son trace his ancestry on my side of the family. My mother is Ann Vandever (maiden name Tuohey) and was your grandfather, John's, sister (although we always knew him as "Jack". She is the youngest daughter of Peter J. Tuohey and Genevieve Loretto Dever.
If you are still interested in this info maybe we can put our heads together. I have some scant info from my grandmother, Genevieve L. Dever but I'm not sure how much is correct!
