Surnames: Tuohy, Twohy, Garrity, Gereaghty
Martin and Mary Tuohy from Ireland found in 1890 in Wash. DC living with the following Hugh L. Tuohy, John J. Tuohy, Kate A. Tuohy, Thomas Tuohy,Michael Martin Tuohy. Others living nearby Aloysius G. Tuohy, Thomas Tuohy. Most buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery between 1901 - 1924. Aloysius Twohy and Rosie Mertz also buried in Mt. Olivet. I am related to Michel Martin Tuohy Born 1868 and died from TB 1911.His father Martin Tuohy married a Garrity but I may not be spelling Garrity right.Somehow also related to Catherine Burke later to become Sister Mary Adrian of the Order of the Sisters of Mercy and St. Peter's School in Maryland. Mass for Michael Martin Tuohy was said in St. Peters in DC. Is there anyone out there that can connect to these names above or below? Also the names Timothy Patrick Tuohy or Michael J. Towey. How about
Bridget Mary O'Garity or Mary B. Tuohy. What about Joseph Tuohy --last seen in Chicago in 1965. Other names Mary (Daisy) Tuohy Logan or a Mamie Tuohy. These are all names that my grandmother gave me from her memory. But her father Michael Martin Tuohy died when she was 9 years old so not sure of the connection. Please someone recognize a name or two and help me with my tree. Thanks

Surnames: Garrity/Geraghty/Gaherty
I know this is an old message but will try anyway. My maiden name is Geraghty. My father started life as Garrity in Ireland as did his cousins and relations in America. All the generation before that started life as Gaherty. It may be worth looking under Gaherty. My family are from Co Roscommon where there were 4 families with this name in one village and another in a neighbouring village. There are also Gaherty families in Co Longford, Co Meath and Aughamore in Co Mayo. These seem to be the main clusters in the nineteenth and early 20th centuries. Dublin has a lot of Geraghtys now. None of my family ended up in Washington DC as far as I know. The early destination was Massachusetts and in the 1950s New York. Good luck.

I am researching my family and just saw this post. My family all settled in Massachusetts and spelling was Gaherty and Gaherity. Do you have any info you can share?
Thanks, Maureen
