David would rather not have his email address on this public forum, but is happy for me to pass it to you - so I'll add into a "comment" on Gerty, and you can take it from there

My Murphy line could have a tie with the Tuohy family in County Clare. The Murphy family was from Obriensbridge in Clare. Several Tuohy names are mentioned as sponsors on Mathew Murphy's children in St. Joseph's church at Castleconnel. I have always wondered what the connection is with the Tuohy family since several are mentioned. I suppose they could be neighbors but it seems like a family tie would be more appropriate. you can contact me at larrylmurphy@cox.net Thank You Larry

hi larry
thank you for your message. like you, i have also wondered if there was a connection.
it was jimmy o'murphy that sailed my grandfather, michael matthew tuohy, from clare to bournemouth to collect my father, peter and take him back to ireland just as the 2nd world war became iminent and when he picked him up he said "No son of mine is going to fight for the Brits!" he was pretty adament too.
i will do a bit of research and get back to you if i find anything.
in the meantime, may i wish you aand yours a very happy christmas:)
