Tumber name has origin from India. In Northern India, around Delhi-Agra, and in Punkab Hoshiarpur District, one would find thousand Tumber family.

Thanks for your message. I know that certain surnames can be found in different cultures and nationalities, with no connection. I believe "Tumber" may be such a name. My great-grandmother Tumber was decidedly English, however. And that her surname probably reflects a place name, like that of a river in the north of England. However, thank you for your comments.

My Tumber grgrgrandparents were from Bridge near Canterbury in Kent. I read once that the name originated from tumbler, a gymnast, rather than a place name but I expect there are several different theories. Jane Poskitt

To Whom It May Concern,
I am a descendent from a Tumber Family that comes from Punjab, India. My family and I think that while the English were in India, that the name was integrated within the community (not sure how--but trying to narrow down the details). If you have any information, I would appreciate it.
