tuman-Wildgust connection

Dear Mr. Fortier,

I recently found your Query concerning the Tuman family. I have been researching my family line of Wildgust and have some information related to Edna Tuman, b. Oct. 5, 1882 and more specifically her husband Harold Wildgust, b. May 22, 1885 Nottingham England. Harold was a cousin to my grandfather Bernard Wildgust and they knew each other in Nottingham and Philadelphia where I am originally from. Do you know where Edna is buried, Phila., Rhode Island? You can respond to GHL105@att.com. Since I’m using my neighbor’s e-mail address for the summer just put Wildgust in the subject line. Hope to hear from you.

Hi!

Tried your email but had it bounce back. Tried again to your email and thought I would post here as well.

Thanks for responding. Just as an fyi, my great great aunt, Edna Tuman, was born October 4, 1882, not October 5. She died 10/10/16. We don't have the place of death. Do you know anything about Elsie, Edna's daughter? I know Harold remarried as Edna died young. We know her date of birth to be correct as we have her mother's bible where she wrote it in her own handwriting. Edna's mother's name was "Minnie" (Mary Jane Walker Tuman) who was born in the Barbados, 1853.

If you have lineage at all, we would be most appreciative. It has been easy tracing my husband's ancestry but we're having much difficulty tracing my family.

Thank you so much!

Dear Denise,

Sorry for the delay and poor e-mail address. Contact me at: awildgust@rssu.org . I am heading to MA and Rhode Island next week (July 18-20) to look up info on Harold and Rachael (Timmins, his second wife) Wildgust. I will be getting better copies of Harold’s Naturalization Papers and will provide you with a copy.

Harold W. Wildgust (b. May 22,1885 -d. April, 1964) came to the USA from Nottingham, England with his mother Elizabeth (Williams) Wildgust (b. abt. 1861-d. 1951) and his sister Maude Evelyn Wildgust (b. May 17, 1888 –d. Jan. 6, 1969) and brother Leslie Wildgust (b. August 12, 1893-d. June 11, 1973) arriving in Boston on the SS Saxonia March 19,1901. The father, Andrew Wildgust came to the USA about two years earlier but I have been unable to find him on a ship. He may have worked his way over as crew. These people started out in RI went to Philadelphia and returned to RI. Harold bounced between RI, CT and RI. His first Naturalization papers (1922) were from CT but he lost the first and obtained a second set in 1932. Most everyone of this group is buried in Barrington, RI or other places in RI. We need to find out if Elsie married to continue the search for her and her descendants.

You now have given two different death dates for Edna, Jan 10, 1916 and Oct 10, 1916. Which is correct? With this date we might be able to obtain a death certificate and burial place. I will try in Philadelphia first depending on what I find this next week in RI. Send me your mailing address so I can send you copies of what I have.

Sincerely,

Allon G. Wildgust

Robert Burns Tuman is my grandfather. My father, George Nevins Tuman, had gone to 2 cemeteries in Philadelphia and copied names and dates from the headstones. None of the information is found on findagrave.
From what I have found in my search, you seem to have more information than any I have found. My father only spoke of his immediate family. The Tuman's lived in Philadelphia where I grew up. We were never taken to the cemetary or to the home where he grew up.
