William John TUMA (b. 1876, Fremont, NE)
My grandfather, William John COLE (b. 18 Sep 1876, Fremont, NE), was born William John TUMA (or THUMA). He was listed as a school teacher with wife Inez TUMA on the 1900 census of Valley Co., Nebraska. When and why he changed his name remains a mystery, but it occurred before 1933. He is listed on the 1880 Colfax Co., Nebraska, census, p. 201B, with his parents, John (b. c.1847, Bohemia) & Katie (b. c.1851, Moravia) THUMA, and siblings, Josephine (b. c.1874, NE), Emma (b. c.1878, NE), Joseph (b. c.1879, NE), and Frank (b. May 1880, NE) THUMA. Any assistance with this line would mean I would forever hold you dear!

My grandfathers name was Marvin Tuma (Aug.28,1912-Jan.14,1993).He was a descendant of the Martin Tuma who was born in Czechoslovakia and came to Galveston, Texas in 1875. My fathers name is Jimmy Tuma, however he was adopted and goes by Jimmy Long. I was always curious about my fathers side of the family, and happened to get lucky and find a relative in my area named Dorothy Tuma. Thank You Dorothy! She provided me with a copy of our family tree. This would also make Wilma Tuma Owens my relative. I have never met anyone from that side of my family, and I understand that I have a lot of relatives in Rockdale, Texas also. Please respond if you are a relative!

My dad's name is Jimmy (Tuma) Long and mother Pamela Brown. The family tree that we have has his name mis-spelled as Jimmie. I am waiting for him to send a copy and will be posting it on this website for everyone to view and compare in the near future.

We will try to make it to the reunion. My mother was real happy to learn that I found out about you. I had not seen your dad or your aunt,Darlene, for a long time. Do you know how to contact Darlene? Please let her know about the reunion! It is neat to find relatives that you don't know or haven't seen for a long time. Let's keep in touch now that we have finally found each other. Talk to ya later!
Sylvia
