I, too, am descended from the Tuke family who were Quakers in York. My most recent ancestor was Samuel Tuke who was born in York, resided Lincoln, Lincs, and died in Durham. I am descended through his daughter Millicent Tuke Tyrrell. I have further data on this family if anyone is interested. Thank you.

I have a family tree (hard copy) that has your family on iy. I have just been asked to look into my husbands grandmothers family tree as she is a Tuke and she has a hard copy about all the York (Rowntree) family, convinced she is related. However she is not I do not think as I have traced way back but cannot get there. You will be decendants of Hannah Tuke (1811) married to George Mennell (Desecndants now spell Meynell). I think anyway.

The Tukes and Rowntrees are connected by (at least) one marriage - in 1862 - between Julia Elizabeth Seebohm (1841-1863) and Joseph Rowntree II (1836-1925). Julia Seebohm was the granddaughter of Elizabeth Tuke (1760-1826) and Joshua Wheeler. Elizabeth Tuke was the daughter of William Tuke (1732-1822).
