i have a great great uncle named Emanuel Tugendhaft. He was actually only one year older than my grandfather Benjamin Tugendhaft. Emanuel's father was Naphtali and mother was Esther. He was born in Toronto and later lived in Buffalo. Napthtali immigrated to Canada in 1880's. I think Emanuel was born about 1896. I have a complex family tree back to Naphtali and his brother Moses David. If any of this sounds familiar let me know. I don't seem to be able to find the connection with the others on this board. Most of my family members changed their names to Tugg or to Tugend. Hope to hear from you. Irene Jalowayski ijaloway@yahoo.com

Hi, Stuart,

I went to grade school (Lido Elementary School) with your Uncle Mark. I also remember your grandparents, your dad and your Aunt Max. Your grandfather ran a pharmacy in Lido Beach on Long Island.

Mark and I were best friends in the late 1950's, then I moved away from Lido. I think about contacting him every now and then, and it appears as though the Internet has made that possible.

If you can, please let your uncle know I'd love to hear from him -- and tell him I just got another go-kart!

Warmest regards,

Jeff Troy

I am the grandson of the late Jenny Tugendhaft, whose father Lipa moved the family from Sokolow to Toronto Canada somewhere around 1900. Until recently, I did not know that the Tugendhaft family was so large and diverse.

Jenny had four sisters (Rae, Rebecca, Mulya, Rose)who married locally. Her late brother Sam changed the name to Tugg. His two sons Bernie and Ron live in Toronto. Ron's son, Lorne, recently visited Sokolow and found some family records and the site of the family.

Best wishes to all family members.
