Further to previous posts about my Tuffields in Middlesex; I now have one of these who I think moved to Australia.
Revered Thomas Tuffield and wife Ann Elizabeth Simonds had child Richard Tuffield born 1849 Shoreditch, Middlesex. I have found a death notice in the Melbourne Argus announcing Ann Elizabeth's death in London in 1893 and describing herself as the mother of Mr R Tuffield. On searching on here, there is a Richard Tuffield listed as arriving in Sydney (I can't access the date) and also an electoral record for 1903 in the state of Victoria, district Bourke, with another record in the same year for a Catherine Tuffield, same state etc. Records for Catherin go up to the 1930s. Possibly a death record for 1909, no location.
I can't access Australian records, as my membership only covers England :(
Does any of this mean anything to anybody. Rev Thomas Tuffield was quite a well known individual, being a congegational Minister in Woolwich. He was a witness for a Select Committee in 1881 and was in the London press quite often.
If anyone can link to this please let me know.
