I was born in Aldershot, Hants in 1931, my name is Colin Tuffield and my parents were Russell Gibley Tuffield (from Norfolk) and my mother was Nellie Sarah Horton (from Aldershot}
My maternal Grandfather, William Horton was in the Hussars in the Boer War and was in South Africa for a while.
In 1935 my parents and their 3 children ( I was the youngest) moved to Hounslow in Middlesex. I came to Melbourne Australia in July 1964 with my wife and 2 children and am still happily residing in Melbourne.

My email address is tufcon@bigpond.net.au.

I have now traced my Tuffields back to Norwich at the end of the 1700's. In the early 1800's they moved to London and were Tallow Chandlers in Hackney. If you look at my family tree on ancestry.co.uk, you will see the line documented.

My great, great grandfather, Frederick Samuel Tuffield served in the Royal Hussars and went to Canada and India. He served under Lord Baden Powell for a while; we have a letter of condolence from Baden Powell on the occasion of FS T's death. Our Tuffield's moved out of London and settled in Kent and Norfolk and now our only surviving male, my grandfather, Andrew Charles Tuffield, age 91 is now in the Midlands.

Do you know the generations prior to Russell Gibley Tuffield? There are a number of Tuffields in London in the 1850s; I wonder if they all originate from Norfolk.

Regards
Sharon

I would be interested to hear about the details you have and whether they tie in to my Tuffields in Middlesex. My first Tuffield in Middlesex is Francis Tuffield, b1805 Hackney. His father was a Charles Tuffield, born about 1755 and married in Gissing, Norfolk. He married twice, both in Norfolk and had children by both wives. If you find my tree it is public Brookes and Tipton, and you will find the details on there. Am very interested to see if we link in, as I have come to a dead end.

Do you know anything about your Henry b 1833? Did he have siblings? His father?

Sharon

We're not Tuffields from Middlesex. I'm in Penicuik Midlothian. Maybe some relation from way back, originally from Kent and Chelsea. My father was David tuffield born 1930

I am sure we are all related somewhere - do you have information further back than 1930. My first Tuffield (who I descend from) was born in the late 1700s, and his descendants. I wonder if you link in somewhere. This first Tuffield was born in Norfolk, near Norwich and he moved to London in the early 1800s; they were tallow chandlers in the East End.
