Regarding the Tuell/ O'Tuell name...yes, my g. g. grandfather was a Tuell. He was the one who told my aunt that the name had been once "O'Tuell". We have official documents from him that list his place of birth as Ireland. Also, while traveling in Ireland a few years ago, I inquired about the name and was told on several occasions, "Oh yes, that is just another variation of O'Toole...just an older Irish spelling." Granted, that last bit is not very "scientific"...more word of mouth ...but just FYI for what it's worth.
Best wishes
Michelle

No, sorry. None of those names ring a bell. I know the names of most of the Tuells in my family several generations back and I think the folks you mention must be another family. Best of luck in your searching though!

So I'm doing research on my family now that I'm retired and I run across your stream of emails from 12-13 years ago and realize we're actually first cousins. Your father Levi is my uncle. His sister, Emma, is my mother. I actually lived with my grandfather (William Russell Brown)and grandmother (Odie Florence Tuel Brown) for 2 yrs at the RFD#1 address when there were pigs and many chickens and geese (1949-1950). I was last there in 1966 when grandma Brown passed away. I saw your Mom (Ethel Mae)and Dad often until grandma Brown passed. After that, my Mom and your Dad kind of never saw eye to eye on much of anything. And even though we only lived a couple of hours away (Wash, D.C. MD suburb)we've never seen or spoken to get other since then. My Mom passed away in 1977.

I've just started on the family history but have found the Tuel name is well documented. As you know back to Ireland. I haven't been spending much time on it, but now need to get started on the "Brown" side and my fathers side (Hitt). I'm not sure where you're living but I will be making a trip to Culpeper to do some research. Anything you have on the Tuel's or Brown's would be appreciated.
