My Grandmother on my mothers side was named Nicolasa Tubens, she lived in Anasco, Puerto Rico in the early 1900s, from what I was told by my mother Maria, she had been in a domestic violence situation with my grandfather Manuel Borralague, she left him and moved to Mayaguez with her daughter and in order for him not to find her she took the name Tubens, now I don't know if she made the name up or if that was my GGmothers maiden name, since my birth certificate lists her name as Galarza. So as you can see its kind of a mystery where the name Tubens came from. But on the other hand anyone with that name should be related since the name Tubens can't be traced back to it's origin, if anyone out there can enlighten me on the origin of the Tubens. please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks, Louis Enrique.

I've been told that it has a french origin. It kinda sounds swedish but I'm not even going to act like I'm positive about either. It's Hispanic now, though.

Mr. Roni Tubens, Can you tell me where your side of the Tubens came from? my side came from Anasco, Puerto Rico, thats as far as I can track them.I researched the 1920 Census of Puerto Rico and found my grandmother in the town of Anasco in the barrio of Cercado Dist #422 but I have not been able to go back any farther then 1920. If you have any information you can share please fell free to e-mail me at archiecastro@aol.com . Thanks Louis Enrique.

Hi there:

I saw your posting as I was searching for the same information as to my heritage under the Tubens last name. My grandma was Georgina Tubens Velez born in Anazco, Mayaguez. She had 2 sisters who died at early age: Monserrate and Juanita. Their dad was Celestino Tubens who married Clara Velez. Juanita died as a teenager from heart failure and Monserrate died with her husband and kids on a famous tragedy in Puerto Rico which happened on Holy Friday. On a flight to New York their plane crashed into the San Juan shores, everyone perished. Still 2 of her sons were already in New York waiting for them: Miguel and Junior. Junior has already passed away but Miguel still lives in California. My mom is also Tubens and she lives in Puerto Rico. Hope all this helps

My family is Tubens from Anasco. I heard my mother speak of Nicolasa. A large part of the family still lives there. My grandfather pedro tubens soto live till he was close to or 100 years old. I am also researching this since I know that all together my grandfather had over 14 children and the family count of cousin and second cousins were over 60.
