Talofa lava Alicia! Our family has a very interesting history. Like yours, my own grandfather was not raised in Poutasi at all. He was adopted by a palagi by the name of Ben Allen who lived in Tafatafa most of his life. He was also made the matai at the family he married into because the family did not have land at all. So, yes I can understand where you come from. I too, had some questions that will never be answered.
Anyway, you take care and hopefully one day we can all meet up together in Samoa. I live in NZ with my husband and 3 children- 2 girls 13yrs & 7yrs old and 15yr old son. We went to Samoa in May this year and I am hoping to go back to Samoa to live and hopefully get something together for all the Tuatagaloa family to come for a visit one day. Lets hope and pray that day will come while we still have time. It would be wonderful. My gradfather has got a bit of land in Tafatafa and hopefully I will be able to make something there in a years time. I teach at Canterbury University at the moment but hoping to apply to teach in Falealili College once it's completed. Anyway, lovely talking to you and God bless.
Your distant Tuatagaloa cousin
