I live in New Zealand and there are are few of us Tuarau's around.
My Father Charlie was born in Rarotonga but became a Maori master Carver here untill his death in 1996.
If you wish to contact me you can at the above e-mail address or phone NZ 5673-271 Thanks.

Hi Martin,
my name is Daniel Tuahu Tuarau. I was born and raised in Tahiti, but today I live in the US. Like with you there were never many Tuaraus in Tahiti. I always wanted to know more about my father's name. I remember couple of years ago, seeing your father's name as a carever in New-Zealand. Right now, I have found a few names wich go back to 1700's. However, all of this is still unclear, but soon hope to make some connections with those names, and be able to tell you where and when my ancestors came from. Who knows, perhaps I will find some interesting things.

Thanks

Dear Kalani & Daniel first of all it was good to talk to you on the phone the other night/morning(sorry about the early morning wake up call).
As I said on the phone My father was raised in Raotonga untill going to New Zealand at the age of 16 with a group of the cook island "ariki" which is sort of like the royal family of the island's.Dad was picked to stay on and learn Maori carving from the masters at the Maori school of arts in Rotorua. The problem I have is trying to find out what his surname was before he was adopted by a Tuarau...any help would be great. Also could you confirm your e-mail address as Kalani t@provo k12.ut.us won't work my messages keep getting returned can't find server.Hope you get this in a resonable time frame...arohanui Martin Rimoia Tuarau

Kiaora Martin!

"Maururu" for your quick response Martin. I haven't had the chance to sit down at a computer until now. It was an excellent surpirse to heard from you. We have several e-mail adresses. The best one is tuaraudk@yahoo.com, the one you have isn't always available.
As I told you, I don't know much about my name. For that I've decided last year, to do some serious genealogical reseaches. My Dad started few years ago when I moved to Hawaii. However, I wasn't really into yet, until now after I came to Utah. Here, I realized how sometime you can be far from culture and family. Since, I gattered several names I need to ask my Dad, and probably my grandmother too who is still alive.
Good Luck on your side. I'll let you know what found. Daniel Tuahu Tuarau
