Do you know your history? My great grandmothers's maiden name was Tsurkan, from Ukraine (Bukowina), and she immigrated to Canada in the 1920s. Her own maiden name was Hritzuk (sp?)She married Nikolai Gaudun in Montreal, Canada and we're just interested in tracing our history since we know little about our ancestors and there aren't that many people with our surnames in the world!

I have Tsurkan in my family tree.
Do you know if she was from Lanivtsi, north of Chernivtsi.
I visited relatives here in Sept. Very beautiful area.

I just asked my father, and apparently it was my paternal Great Grandmother who's surname was Tsurkan. She married a Gaudun. They lived about 35 km north west of Chernivtsi in Verchni Stanutsi.

My dad is going to get back to me with more information!
