YOUNGSTOWN - Antonios D. “Tony” “The Greek” Tsimouris, 65, passed away on Oct. 22, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, following a lengthy illness.

His wife, Mary, and godchild Sofie were at his side.

Tony was born on June 18, 1949, in Kalymnos, Greece.

He was the son of Eleni Iakovou Tsimouris and Demetrios Tsimouris.

He attended and graduated from Campbell High School.
Tony had several jobs during his lifetime. He worked as a painter for Five Stars Painting Co. of Indiana, as a laborer at Youngstown Sheet and Tube and at the A&P warehouse in Salem, Ohio as a butcher. But of all the jobs he held, Tony took most pride in being the assigner of officials for the Tri-County League
. Tony was very active in sports. He was involved in Pony League and Babe Ruth baseball in Campbell and Youngstown, Ohio.
He was an umpire and President of the Youngstown Metro Umpires Association for 10 straight years. He then was commissioner of the Tri-County League. One of his highlighted moments of umpiring was being picked to be an official at two World Series of Babe Ruth Tournaments
. He was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, but also kept ties to his Campbell, Ohio roots.
He loved his Greek heritage and enjoyed the music and foods of Greece. His fondest memories were those of his homeland, and he wished he would have been able to visit once more.

Tony leaves his wife, Mary Beth (Ragan) Tsimouris, whom he married Oct. 23, 1976; godchild Sofie Passas (Rocky) Marian of Boardman; brother and sisters-in-law Peggy and David Myers of Youngstown and John and Annette Ragan of Youngstown, OH; three nieces; two nephews; one great-niece; and three great-nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
A Christian Orthodox funeral service will be celebrated at the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church in Campbell at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014.
Friends and family may call one hour before services from 9 to 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
