My grandfather was Elbert Moses Solley of Alabama. His father was Lorenzo Solley of Coosa County, AL. Before my greatfather I have had difficulty finding out anything. Elbert had Indian features and family pictures seem to show heavy Indian backgound. Before Lorenzo I can't trace the family. Tsali may be of great help. Family legend was that they escaped for the Trail of Tears and Anglicanized the name.

I had a file on some of the known Solley Indians. But I lost it when A virus hit my computer and I had to completely restore. Send me your E-mail address and I will send you someone that has the info you seek.

My uncle had some papers(looks like from a book), about our ancesters. The first was William Mathis Barnes d. 1838 married Frankie Tsali. Both were full blooded Cherokee. I don't know anything else & I'm not sure what this means, yet. I just got the information a couple of weeks ago.

Just found your info. I would be very interested in this information on Tsali. William Mathias Barnes and Frankie Tsali had a son named James L. Barnes who was my gggrandfather. I have search for over three years for info.

The information was taken from a book in the Dallas Public Library. It was written by a cousin that I never met. I'm not sure the exact title of the book, but it was about families in Grayson County ( Texas ). I'm sure I have the title of the book somewhere. I'll get back with you.

I am so excited about the info I found from you. I had been misspelling Frankie's name in my searches. If you would like to email me directly, my email is gingerfinzel@comcast.net. Would love to see what leads you have found on Frankie Tsali and William Mathis Barnes.

Wm M Barnes may not have been a full Cherokee. He was my GrandMother's GGGrandFather. My Mother did extensive work on this tree. Frankie Tsali was full Cherokee. My GM was born near a reservation in Sherman, TX (1903) while Wm Bige Barnes was settling Indian business. (They were from DeKalb Co TN and only went to TX to settle some sort of business about the GREAT CHEROKEE nation)
