I'm looking for information on my Trobee, or Troby, ancestors. My great-great grandmother's name was Emily Trobee, and her parents were Ransom and Elizabeth. If anyone has any information on them or their ancestors, I would love to see it!

My great grandmother was Ruth Trobee married James Runyan. Her parents were Allen Perly Trobee (some records say Alexander) and Almeria Amsberry. A. P. Trobee was the son of Senate and Sophia (Secord) Trobee. Ruth was born in Kellerton Iowa in 1868 and died in Mason City Nebr.1939 Does any of this connect?

My great-grandmother was Sophia Trobee. She was the sister of Ruth Trobee and the daughter of Alexander Perley Trobee and Almira Parish Amsberry (correct spelling) Beard Trobee. Sophia was born 11 August 1866 in Knoxville, IA, married Leonard Dady 14 Jan 1883 in Custer County, NB (Mason City) and died 23 October 1952 in Bellflower, CA. Alexander is the correct first name of Perley Trobee. Allen P. Trobee was his son, b. June 2, 1871 Marion Co., Iowa, died Feb 6, 1955, Creswell, Oregon with no children. Alexander Perley was born 20 July 1831 in Morgan County, Ohio, and died 25 December 1916 in Roseland, Oregon. He supposedly served for a few months of 1865 in the 51st Missouri Infantry in the Civil War. His father, Senate Trobee, lived in 1838 in Morgan County, Ohio, but was gone by 1840. Martin Trobree or Trobry, and Martin Trobee, Jr., lived in Bloom Township, Morgan County, Iowa, in 1840 as did Peter Secord. Do you have any information about Senate Trobee before 1838? Note that the name is almost surely French and was probably Trobre (with an accent on the final e). Finally, I wonder if Senate had a brother named House of Representatives?

Clarence, Thank you for the reply. I am glad to have it straightened out about Alexander P. and Allen P.
Did you know that Amsberry was originally Ormsby? and that the Grandfather of Almira was Ormsby not Amsberry? Do you have the Amsberry book by Ruby Coleman of Ogallala Ne.?
I found your line in it.
I have seen Senate Trobee's name as Sennet, probably misspelled. I have found several Secord's in Canada, but nothing connects, thus far.
Do you ha/ve info on siblings of Alexander Trobee?
Sorry I had not gotten your mail answered sooner, with the events of 9/11 and all, I haven't done much of any work on geneology.

Ms Runyan:
Yes I do have the Amsberry book. Almira was pretty fierce looking, wasn't she? My Great-grandfather Leonard Dady married Sophia Trobee, and his brother Perry Dady married Ellen Beard, so my Grandad Roy Dady and his cousin and best friend Harry Dady (all of Mason City, NB) were 1-1/2 first cousins! It looks like we have about the same amount of information about the Trobees. Grandad said that they were wanderers, and that Perley took off from Mason City as soon as his wife died.

I'm afraid I may be looking for the same thing but I have a genealogy which goes back to Ransom Trobee (born 1815-16) marrying Elizabeth Whaley (born 1816-17) in Morgan county Ohio in 1834. It indicates that they had 6 children, the first of which was in my line - Francis Marion. However, Emily did not appear on the list of children unless that was a middle name.

If you have any more detailed information on Ransom or Elizabeth or their ancestors, I would appreciate it.

Regards,

Sam Trobee

Hi, I have been "talking" with another Trobee. She says that A.P. Trobee married after Almira to a Mrs Mary E Goddard and they had children who were raised by a family in Calaway Ne. Her husband is from that line. Have you heard this? Do you know anything about this line? I never had heard that there were children from that union. My grandfather and my great Aunt Fern( Almira and A.P.'s grandchildren) never mentioned this. They lived only a few miles from Calaway, in Mason City Ne. and should have known . Thanks for your previous help.

Pat:
No, I never heard of any remarriage by A.P. Trobee. I only know that he moved in with his son Allen Trobee in Roseland, Oregon, where he died. All of the early Trobees were sort of odd and drifters, though. Did I mention that the Morgan County, Ohio, records show that the name was originally Trobre - which looks French. There were a lot of French settlers in SE Ohio.

I am working on the Goddard connection to A P Trobee. I have information on his second wife: Mary E. Goddard (Herron) and know someone who remembers Frank B Trobee, their son.
He was half-brother to her father Myron Elsworth Goddard.
I was hoping that you could help me locate them AP Goddard and Mary in some records. Do you know where they were in the 1900 Census? was Frank with them? what about Mary's children by her late husband George Goddard where did they go?
