I have come in US 1997 from Bosnia.
I wander if anyone knows for Trnkas in US or Western Europe that have ancestors in Bosnia.
Also, if anyone have any idea of connection between Trnkas in Bosnia and Trnkas in Mid Europe (Czech Rep, Slovakia, Germany, Austria) please let me know.

Hi,

My step father is a Trnka and his father immigrated to the US from a small town in Austria. I do not know if this is the same family or not, but would be interested in finding out. There are several Trnka's here in NY. Please feel free to email me at rnjs@ulster.net

Hello~

My name is Sally Trnka and I live in Duluth, MN. I am no longer in contact with my father or grandparents so I know little to nothing about my heritage. I was wondering if you could give me a little insight as to our history? Thank you.

One of my grandmothers was Louise TRNKA. She was the daughter of Joseph TRNKA, b. 1886 in Bohemia and died 1936 in N.Y. There a couple of TRNKA lines in New York that I have run across. I have not spent a great deal of time on this line yet. What are your fathers and grandfathers names?

Surnames: Trnka
My grandmother was Emily Antonette Trnka. The family may have changed the spelling to Trinka but this is not confirmed. Emily married Russell Proper and lived in Rome NY. Emily died when my father was 12 so I have no information. Contact me at cwillis2@twcny.rr.com if you have any knowledge of this family of Trinkas.

I have posted a question about the Trnka family name. Possibly you have some information I can use. I posted in July under name Carol. Do the name show up in your tree? If so maybe we can help each other. I am having problems with research.

Carol,

I went back to your previous post and we seem to be talking about the same Trnkas. My father's mother was Louise Trnka. She was the fourth child of Joseph Trnka and Antonia Sarnek - I think. This is the way I have mapped out the family:
Joseph, b. 1851 Hungary/Bohemia
married
Antonia Sarnek
they had four children - all born in Bohemia
Barbara, b. 1882
mar. Charles Smith
5 children - John. Lewis, Charles, Robert, and Dorothy
Mary, b. 1884
mar. Frank Schnider
1 child - Marie
Louis, b. 1885
Louisa, b. 03 Apr 1886
mar. Floyd Wilson Proper - 11 Jun 1910, Hillsdale, NY
2 children - Anthony Floyd and Cora Grace

In 1889 they immigrated to New York
Joseph marries next - Anna ______ about 1891
they had 3 children
Anton, b. 06 Sep 1892, Hillsdale, NY
mar. Antonetta Slezak
1 child - Lawrence Frank
Emily, b 1896, Hillsdale, NY
mar. Russel Edward Proper in NY
(Russel is Floyd Wilson's younger brother)
7 children: Matilda, Evelyn, Martin, Joseph, Russel,
Emily, and Lawrence
Edward, b. 1899 in Hillsdale, Ny
mar. Julia _____
1 child - Evelyn

Then there are four more children who show up on the 1910 Census, Barney, Otto, Hellen, and Lottie. All born between 1904 and 1909 in Bohemia. I can only guess that they were actually the children of a relative back in Bohemia???

I have not done much more research than this but this does seem to be one confusing family.
