Surnames: Trnka , Truinka
My Great Grandmother was Louise Trnka or Trunka I am not sure she was born in Prague and married Joseph Kinzl and they lived in Dubno Ukraine . This is what I got from my Grandmothers Death certificate They were of Czech Desent
But my Grand mother and her sister Adelia Elizabeth and Brother Joseph JR and George were born in Russia (Ukraine) They stayed in the Ukraine as far as I know. The two sisters moved to Chicago in 1907 and 1908 Adelia having married Vladimer Urban in Russia and Emma marring John Bina in America. Does and anyone have a history of the name of Trnka or perhaps where the name may have orignated?

Your posting intersts me. I too had a relative named Trnka, born in Chicago. Her name was Eva Rose Trnka that married Frederick Edward Mann. Eva was born June 23, 1910. If tis is a relative I would surely like to know. Thank you, Margaret Stephens

My Trnka/Trinka family originated in Opotovice, Bohemia and came to America in 1906. They always regarded themselves as Bohemian or Czech. The country of Czechoslovakia was put together like "Topsy" as far as they were concerned.
