Looking for Triano, spelled without the "o" in California. My fathers name was James, brothers Charles, John and Anthony lived in California. Also he had two sisters, Louise and Theresa. I have just started to try to do a family tree but I need help.

My mother always told me that her grandfather said Triano like Troiano. I know some relatives might be in CA, but I'm not sure - I'm in NJ. Did anyone in your family come from NJ?

As far as I know I do not think any of our family came from NJ, most of them from New York City, some in Calif.

Hi there, is your family Spanish or Italian. That is the first step. There are lots of Spanish Trianos in northern California. They came over from Spain in the early 1900s. If you are Spanish, then let me know and I can put you in contact with all the Trianos there. What was your grandfather's first name?

The Troiano name is common in the town of Ruoti, Potenza, Basilicata, Italy. Troiano was changed to Triano in many cases in America.

Hi. Found your message. My father Patrick was born in Hudson County, NJ in 1909, the oldest of 17 children. His father, Anthony Triano, was an immigrant from Bari, Italy, & married Saporito. My father always said we were originally Troiano, but I have no way of tracing it. Given the fact that there were 17 surviving children though, it's safe to say there are many of us in NJ. Some names of my uncles/aunts are: Tony (Wab), Andy, Dolly... gosh, I forget the rest.

My husband's father was from Cherry Hill, NJ and we are trying to track his family down. Does the name William Sylvester Triano ring a bell to anyone?

Thanks Juanita
