Hi Gail,
My Mother was Kathryn Trial Colfer, her father was Alfred Joseph Trial, married to Amanda Lovendale Trial. Alfred is in the Waterville,Maine Catholic Cemetary. I have photos of his stone, his mother and father's stone. I now live in Apopka, Florida, however my kids live in upstate New York and New Hampshire. My wife and I are going up in a month or so. If you haven't been up there looking, I'd be glad to check in a couple places for you. I just don't want to double some research that you already have. I need to get more info on my Trial ancestry line anyway. Let me know if you are interested. Paul Colfer

Hi Paul,
I've been trying to respond to your message for a couple of days.[ I have a filter that for some unknown reason was blocking FamilyHistory web site]. Everythings back to normal now. I was very interested in your message. Trial is one of the surnames that I track all names I come across and try to tie into mine. I would be very interested in sharing more information. I have yet to be able to make a trip to Maine and would appreciate any help you are willing to give. I currently live in Rutherfordton NC, but interestingly enough I was born and raised in Orlando Fla and at one time lived not far from Apopka. Small world! My Trial Line is Octavie Trial who married Aimee St Amand. Octavie's parents were David Trial and Angele Boisvert. E-mail me at rog-gail@blueridge.net

Hi Gail,

I saw your guery on ancestry.com and I am very interested in you research. Angele Boisvert (Trial) would be my great great great aunt. She was the sister of my great great grandfather Louis Boisvert Greenwood. Louis and Angele were the children of Louis Boisvert and Isabelle LaFond married at St. Francois du Lac Yamaska Quebec May 7, 1821.

Although I have research for many years as well as other Greenwood family members have. We have not found parents for Louis Boisvert. When he married Isabelle LaFond he didn't list who his parents were. Have you done any research on this?

I have yet to find a burial site for Louis and Isabelle, I was in Quebec a year ago and search the St. Francois du Lac area but couldn't find them. I am now curious to know if they are buried with the Trial family in Maine.

I appreciate any information you could share with me.

Thanks
Roxanne

Hi Roxanne,

Louis Boisvert and Elisabeth Lafond are my gggg grandparents. I have been unable to find parents names for Louis nor burial place for either. However I will say that this part of my line, I've not spent much time on]. Their daughter Angele married David Trial and he died in Lewiston, Maine. I've looked through my books on the cemetary of St Peter and Paul in Lewiston.Louis and Elisabeth are not listed there. I checked my marriage books also to see if any children had been married in Lewiston. No Luck so far. I'll need to start looking out from Lewiston.
Do you happen to have any information about Angele Boisvert? All I have is marriage information. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Gail

Hi Gail,

It's great to meet a 4th cousin! Our Greenwood/Boisvert family has been researching Louis's lineage for over 25 yrs. I met many of my Greenwood 3rd cousins last summer for the very first time. We really enjoyed meeting each other. One came from South Carolina another from Chicago we meet other cousins still living in Wisconsin. I live in the Minneapolis area.

In Louis and (Elisabeth) Isabelle's marriage record it tells that Nicolas Boisvert was a witness to their marriage in 1821.
Nicolas was the son of Francois Boisvert DeNevers and Marie Genevieve Martel. We believe that Louis is the son of one of their children. Their son Francois and Joseph have many descendants in the Manitowoc area of Wisconsin. This the same area that my great great grandfather Louis Boisvert Greenwood settled with his family in 1854.

I have all the Boisvert listings for St. Francois du Lac, I also have a copy of the original marriage document ot Louis and Isabelle.

I did find it very interesting that Angele and David had a son named Isidore. Their was a Louis Isidore born April 17 1801 in Baie du Febvre Yamaska Quebec( about 10 miles from St. Francois du Lac) to a Ambroise Boisvert and Marie Catherine Pinard. This would be the right age for our Louis.

We can however Trace Isabelle (Elisabeth) LaFond's lineage back to the 1600's in France. In fact her brother Joseph's family contacted me this past summer. They are 5th cousins to us and have been looking for our family for many years. It is interesting our LaFond family was very fair in coloring, I was sent pictures of Angele's first cousin Joseph and his family.

Joseph LaFond Isabelle's nephew settled in a town in Northern Minnesonta called Argyle, there are many Boisvert/Greenwood's that settled there at the same time as Joseph. One by the name of Louis Boisvert. It is about a 5 hour drive from Minneapolis to Argyle and I haven't made the trip yet. But I am very curious about this Louis Boisvert. I assume that Louis and Isabelle had other son's even though I have only found one son Louis and three daughters Angele, Marie and Emily.

Do you have any pictures of Angele or her family, I would love to see what they looked like. I have a picture of Angele's brother Louis and a couple pictures of his son's (he had nine sons and only two daughter)

My e-mail address is roxylou@yahoo.com or gmikkels@frontiernet.net.

I hope to hear from you!
