I am researching the Treado family from Northern Michigan. Jerry Treado appears in several census from 1900 to 1930. I have records that he was born in Canada, and my father remembers him speaking French. I don't know where he was born in Canada. Married Ida Verville.
Jerry's father's name was Joseph and his mother's name was Zoe Des Jardin.
According to oral history, two brothers came Michigan from Canada. When they were recorded by two different individuals one of the brothers retained the orginal spelling of the last name, one spelling was changed to Treado. I don't know how much truth is in this story, but it seems to ring true, and I am unsure of the orginal spelling, but I suppect it might have been Tredeau.
Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
