2nd Feb from 11.00 GMT onwards (i.e. tomorrow), there is an auction at Northgate Auction Rooms, Newark, Notts, UK, including a lot which is a sampler made by a Martha Treadgold in 1798.
Newark is less than 10 miles from the places you mention in your posting, so I reckon there must be a chance that the sampler was made by an ancestor of yours. The auction has a web site and the catalogue is online, as is the phone number if you want to bid for it. It's faded, but interesting.
The sampler has nothing to do with me. I visit the auctions regularly, and figured that the sampler might be of interest to the family.
Regards,
Chris
