Searching for anyone with information about Father Treacy. He was a Catholic Priest in Iowa, (Sioux City) 1880-1902 or so. He had a sister, Mary Treacy who married Daniel Halloran or O'Halloran, and a brother or nephew, James P. Treacy. He spent his later years in Los Angeles, California. He died in 1925. Thanks, Gale

Searching for information about Treacys of Limerick. Patrick Treacy m. Honora Harding, had among others, a son James. James' sons were named Timothy and another Patrick Harding Treacy. Perhaps a connection to Fr Timothy Harding Treacy. Do you know Fr Treacy's parents names?
Thanks, Helen

My Timothy Treacy was the son of Patrick Treacy and Mary Harding. That is what is stated on his burial certificate. His sister was Mary Ann Treacy. She married in Hospital, Limerick, Ireland in 1868. I don't know if her family was from Hospital. That is about all the information I have. Thanks, Gale

Hi Gail
Do you have an approx birth date for Fr Treacy? His nephew/brother (James P Treacy) may have been my James. James was born c. 1840-45, 3rd son of Patrick Treacy. James'sons were Timothy Harding Treacy, Patrick Harding Treacy, Timothy Joseph Treacy (died in infancy), Edmund, John, James and his eldest daughter was Mary Ann.
Thanks
Helen

I believe Father Timothy Harding Treacy was born about 1857. The James Patrick Treacy that I believe is related was born in the 1870's or early 1880's. I believe Mary Ann was born about 1850. Hope this helps.

James Patrick Treacy was probably a nephew/cousin. Have discovered my James Treacy had siblings Edmund b. Limerick, d. Askeaton, Limerick 1908, Patrick b. Limerick abt 1853 d. NZ 1922, Timothy b. Limerick, Mary b. Limerick, John b. Limerick - lived Co. Cork, & there may be others. Edmund, Patrick & Timothy were RC priests. James & Patrick both came to NZ abt 1880. Parents were Patrick Treacy, a farmer, lived Cromwell, Hospital, Limerick, mother was Honora Harding, she was probably born Tipperary. Sure they are same family. Interested in any more information you have about Mary Ann or any other members of this family. James was my g-grandfather.

Hello Helen, I was thrilled to hear from you and I do believe this is the same family. Mary Ann Treacy was my great grandmother. She married Daniel Halloran in Hospital, Limerick in 1868. They came to the USA in about 1873 although I haven't found immigration records for them, but the census records give this date. I first find them in the 1880 census in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. They had the following children: Thomas b. 1868 Limerick Ireland, Honora b. February 27, 1870, Hospital Limerick Ireland, d. Jan 3, 1890 Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa USA, Mary b. August 23, 1871 Bridgetown, County Clare, Ireland, d. August 5, 1928 Stanislaus County, California, USA, Johanna b. 1873, Galbally, Limerick, Ireland, d. Buffalo, New York, Bridget b. Nov. 1876, New York , d. March 3, 1935, San Bernadino County, California, USA, Patrick Lawrence, b. Nov. 8, 1878 Buffalo, Erie County, New York, USA, Daniel Edward, B. May 13, 1881 Buffalo, Erie County, New York, USA , d. May 15, 1940, Los Angeles, California, USA. Mary AnneTreacy was widowed in 1882, but appears to have stayed in New York until about 1898 at which time she moved to Sioux City Iowa, where her brother, Father Timothy Harding Treacy was a priest. He was quite instrumental in establishing the Cathedral in Sioux City, Iowa. I am so happy to get the information in your post about the siblings. I only knew about Mary Anne and Timothy. The only other family info was that there were a lot of priests in this family. Do you know if there were sisters to Mary Anne Treacy? I would be interested in any information on any of the siblings or the parents. Thanks so much. Gale

Hi all Treacys, I am working on the tree of my sister-in-law, Lucy Tyrrell (nee Treacy). Her grandfather was John Tracey of Kilnap House, Cork, and he was brother to Fr. Edmond (died 1908 Co. Limerick), Fr. Patrick (died 1922 NZ) and Bishop Timothy of Sioux City (died 1915). John’s first wife Celia died before 1902 and they had had a son Timothy St John Treacy (1896-1907). His second wife was Mary Quinlan (b. 4 Nov 1874), daughter of Thomas Quinlan and Mary Anne McAuliffe. They had at least six children (and probable more when I get more details!). Their 4th child John “Jack” Treacy (Lucy’s father) married Margaret Rita Sweeney. They had 11 children – all alive today. Collective years 783, + or -, surely an entry for Guinness Book of Records?
