My grandfather came from Tipperary and his name was James Treacey. He had approx. 10 brothers and sisters (Peter, Tillie, Catherine, William ...) He was born 1875 and was married to Julia O'Keefe. If you think there may be a connection, e-mail me at JMtreac@aol.com.

My Great-Grandfather was William Treacy, of
Count Cork, Ireland. He was born May 6, 1832
and married my Great-Grandmother, Julia Agnes
Nelligan, of County Kerry, on July 1, 1858,
after both immigrated to America. Hope there
might be some similarities.

The French Connection

I don't have a family tree breakdown , all I can tell you from my visit four years ago to Limerick is their are quite a few relatives by the name of Treacy related to me. Some names Treacy married into are Nolan, O'Donnel, Fitzgerald in the Adare area.Treacys in Cork couldbe related. I was also visiting Quebec City in Canada and in a historic church in the old city is a ship hanging from the ceiling dedicated to the Marquis DeTreacy who saved the city from the English, so there is also a French connection, probably from the large Norman population in the Adair area. There is a excellant museum in Adare explaining the influence.
