You know you could be right. We do know there are three difference spellings of Burbridge Coleman's last name:

Tranum,
Trennen, and
Trenum

Which one is correct, we don't know and a considerable amount of research has been unable to get the name correct. Trennen was the name on his Civil War headstone, while Trenum is on his military marker. Back in those days with most folks not knowing how to read or write the spelling of your name was however the person making the record spelled it.

Burgridge was my Great Grandfather, his son John L. Sullivan Tranum my Grandfather. My grandparents raised me since my father, Calivan Sullivan Tranum was killed when I was ten. I know while my Grandfather spelled the last name with an "a" his brother (same mother and father) spelled it with an "e" so their is no logic to the different spellings that I know.

I wish someone could trace the name back beyond his father and grandfather and see in what country they originaled.

Thanks for the message.
