Harvel W. "Sonny" Tracer, 70, of Rogue River died Friday July 15, 2005 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
A family dinner has been held in his memory. Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

One of eight children, he was born October 1, 1934 at the family home in Wimer to William and Effernetta Tracer. He attended local schools in Wimer, Rogue River and Prospect. In Prospect he met Deloris Yorton, whom he married September 24, 1953.
He worked three years for Skeeters Logging in Prospect, before moving to Smith River, CA, where he worked for Pelican Bay Paving. He and Deloris returned to the Evans Valley in 1958. He worked for 17 years as a powder monkey (explosives technician) for Bristol Silica. Afterwards, he was yard foreman for the lumber mill in Rogue River, until his retirement in 1987.
Sonny was a life member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife of nearly 52 years, survivors include his daughter, Vickie Roberts of Rogue River; his son, Michael Tracer of Rogue River; four sisters, Lucille Koger of Rogue River, LueEze Jacobs of Crescent City, LaDonna Phillips of Costa Mesa, CA, and Lorraine Baker of Central Point; two brothers, Harold Tracer of Silverdale, WA and Harylyn Tracer of Iredell, TX; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His son, Harvel "Earl" Tracer died in 1996. A sister, Luella DeRoboam, also died before him.
