Looking for links to the TRABOLD's from Reicholzheim, Baden, Germany.

Brothers Sebastian (b.1827), Johann (John)(b.1830), and twin sisters Theresia and Sophia (b.1835) came to the Orange/East Orange area of Essex County in New Jersey about 1850.

Their parents were Johann Anton Trabold and Dorothea Dorbath.

Sebastian married Gertrude (last name unknown
John married Catherine Scheuerer
Theresia married Koch (first name unknown)
Sophia married August Oetzel

My maternal grandfather was Wilheim Oskar Trabold born approx 1900. He lived in Interlaken Switzerland before coming to England where he married Mary Ellen Powell.
I am trying to trace his relatives in Switzerland who ran a tie shop in Inerlaken.
Please E-mail me with any info.

Sorry, just saw your message.
Unfortunately, I find no indication that any of my Trabold family were from Switzerland.
Good luck on your search.

Hi--
I just found out that my Great Great Grandmothers name was Geneva TRABOLD and my Great Great Grandfather was Joseph ZIMMERMANN. Their son, my Great Grandfather was Ferdinand (Fred) ZIMMERMANN and he came to Cincinnati Ohio from Baden Germany IN 1880. I have no idea .....yet.....if their were any other siblings. I heard family rumor that the family originally was from Schwarzau and the closest to that I have found is Schwargau Bavaria (Bayern). And as far as I know I dont think Geneva or Joseph came to the US but I could be wrong.

As I just started looking for the TRABOLD name it seems it is not as common as ZIMMERMANN so maybe I'll have some luck with it. Anything ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks.

My great-grandfather, Johan (John) Trabold, came from Reicholzheim, Baden, Germany in 1850 to Orange, New Jersey.

Don't know if they all came together, but his brother Sebastian and twin sisters, Theresia and Gertraud, also settled in Orange.

Probably not, but if this fits anything you have, let me know.

Good luck.

Dear Kathy
Do you have any dates for your Geneva Trabold? I have copies of an old family bible. It is in old German script that is difficult to read. I cannot make out some of the letters to piece them together into a name. If you have dates it might be helpful to see if this name fits in.

Hi Janet-

I can only guess the dates for Geneva Trabold Zimmermann. I do know her son Ferdinand, my Great Grandfather was born in 1855 so I am guessing her bd around 1820-1835. I'm hoping finding out her maiden name will be a break for me as I've been stuck for a while and I hope to find someone who may have a connection somewhere. Thanks for trying.

Hi Charles-

At this point the names don't ring a bell but I did just find out my Great Great Grandmothers last name as being Trabold. I'll be sure and keep a copy of your note in case I should find a connection. You never know do you? Thanks....
