Lafayette Traber
Does anyone have information on this man? He served in the 88th Ohio Infantry in 1862 as a Private. Reinlisted in 1864 as an Adjutant. In the 1870 Census for MIssouri, he is living in Kansas City. He was also a lawyer (listed in the 1889-91 KC, MO, city directory). He was senior partner in an abstract business (Traber Norman). The other partner was Joseph Lafayette Norman. I am trying to establish whether these two were related. Any help would be appreciated.

We have quite a bit of information, not only on Lafayette but, the entire Treber/Traber family. I have gone through the decendants and have found no Joseph Lafayette Norman. To the best of my knowledge, they are not related. If you are looking for info on Lafayette, please let me know and I will be more than happy to share.

Thanks for responding Marcylouise. It might help me in my research. It seems VERY unusual that Joseph Lafayette Norman worked with a man named Traber/Trabor Norman and ALSO had an older brother named Traber Norman. Please e-mail me directly as I don't frequent this site very often. Thanks, Diane

Diane,

Thanks for your note. You didn't provide an e-mail address to contact you direcly so here's mine: elmo@icstech.net Would love to correspond, particularly if it is info on Lafayette Traber that you are looking for. If not, as we go through some of the things we have of Lafayette's, perhaps there is a name I can look for that would help you.

Best regards,
Marcylouise

Classification: Query
Surnames: Kerley, Traber, Webb
My grandfather was Traber William Kerley (1890-1980). He was born on a farm near Oak Grove, Jackson County, MO on 7 Aug 1890 to Robert Ross Kerley and Arah Adna "Addie" Webb. According to family stories my grandfather was named Traber because of the high regard his parents held for a neighbor with that surname. Do your records include members of the Traber family residing near Oak Grove, Jackson County, MO in or before 1890?

Thanks,
Bill
