Hello all you Traaen's out there! I am trying to piece together our family back to Norway. I am running into some brick walls. My mother's grandfather was Ole K Traaen. He migrated from Norway , we think the Rollag area, but are not sure, about 1881 or 1883. He married Bereth Anna Jensen Aasen Orson, and settled in Yellow Medicine county Minnestoa. Ole had 2 children before he married Bertha. I do not know if he was married to these women. One was Guro Jacobsson Huse, the other Gertie Olson. The family moved from Minnesota to Washington state in 1900. I would love to visit with any Traaen folks. Maybe we can help each other find where our ancestors lived in Norway. Oh yes, Ole K Traaen had at least 2 brothers that we have found. Halvor Kittelson and Kittil Kittilson. I guess some of the family went by Traaen, some by Kittelson (spelled many ways).

Marry Christmas to all Traaen's, known and unknown!
I have been involved in the search for Ole K Traaen home place in Norway. We’re close to our aim, I think.
Let me also introduce the new English version of www.traaen.no to you. Hopefully there will be more stuff about ancestors. Many of you in the US are descendants from Guul Traaens children, who emigrated to the US, and who lived on on our farm, S Traaen.
You must also take a look at The Emigration Web Norway, This site is still under construction, but learn to know it, you who’re searching for relatives in Norway !

Regards, Olav Traaen

Greetings

Hi, I am the daugther of Gerald Ole Traaen. His father was Ole Olson Traaen. They both live in the state of Washington, USA. Grandpa's brothers were Carl Traaen, John Traaen I believe was a half brother. They had a sister, but I can't recall her name right now. I believe I am a cousin to the Kay Hafer Neubauer that I see all the writing's from. I would really like to hear from Olav Traaen, as there doesn't seem to be many of us Traaens Left. I have a brother, his name is Randy. He has a son , his name is Dan Traaen.

p.s. to Joan, check dad's trunk!!

Joan, I have visited with aunt Nettie a few times recently. She remembers very little about Ole K Traaen's past, but there may be clues at your dads' place. I think he has photos and things that were taken to his place when Nettie moved into the rest home. I think she said in a trunk. I have been trying to find time to fly home and go see what I could find in these old memotos, but have to do it around my foaling season. I can't get out of here now, until after foaling season. We have another older ancestor still living. She is in Kennewick. She is Julia Traaen Johnson's daughter. She is in her 80'2 Mable Hodgeson. She has some old stuff too, that she would be happy to share with us. I will give you a hollar when I can get that way. Please email me!! or call!!
