I have just read your posting at rootsweb.com. I am doing research on my family, the TOZERS! I am not sure about our ancesters in England. As far back we know so far is LaJose, Pa. in the early 1800's. My GG grandfather was Gilbert Tozer. His son Jacob was my great-grandfather. A. W. Tozer was my grandfather, Zenes', brother. Let me know if we fit. Tamara Tozer Isanhart gtisanhart@rural-net.com

My grandmothers father was William Tozer, nickname "Wild Bill", he played professional football, and retired playing for the Pacific Coast League-San Francisco Seals. His Children were Virginia (my grandmother married Morris Ostman) Francis, Bill.......(This family was from the San Francisco, CA area) Does any of this ring a bell.

As you can see I am not Joan--she is my mother and had this subscription. Thought I would tell you that first. So very sorry Kathy, but no, the names do not ring a bell. My Tozer line came from England and France and settled mainly in PA. My gg grandfather was Gilbert and started the town of Tozertown in western PA. This town was changed to LaJose and is now called Newburg. I am not sure about this, I will have to check my records (have been doing alot of research on my husbands family also), but I believe we do have a William. He would have been the brother to either my great or gg grandfather. My great grandfather was Jacob Snyder Tozer. My grandfather was Zene Tozer and a the oldest child of Jacob and Prudence Jackson Tozer. Also Zene was the brother to A.W. Tozer, the evangelist. I will look and get back to you in a few days--Tammy

The Tozer names that I have are from Devon in England going back to 1786. I have about 24 entries. I cannot link them to the united states. Let me know if I should let you have the tree.

Hello I have been looking through archived messages for information on my TOZER ancestors who came from Devon. They are mostly from the Aylesbeare/Farringdon area, including Joel TOZER born in 1797. Do these match up with your TOZERs I wonder? Will be interested to hear. Regards Gwen Wilkins

I have Tozer ancestors who came from Buckfastleigh, Devon. Aaron Tozer was born 8 Jan, 1827, and was enlisted man in British Army who was posted to Halifax, Canada, in 1862. He brought his family including a 2 year old son, William, who later moved to New York City. Aaron Tozer's wife was named Fanny Wallis and William's wife was named Emily Wilson.

My Husband's ancestor was Sophia Tozer whose parents were Joel Thomas Tozer and his wife Jane. Joel born in 1797 was the brother of your John I believe, their parents being John & Priscilla Tozer (nee Thomas)I think their grandparents were Joel Thomas and Elizabeth Miller, but not sure who John Tozer snr's parents were.
